Davidson to continue BBC radio role

Saturday, February 6th 2010, 09:56 GMT

Anthony Davidson is to continue in his radio commentary role with Five Live as part of an unchanged line-up for the BBC's Formula 1 coverage.

The British broadcaster has announced that it will again show all qualifying sessions and races live on BBC1, with practice sessions carried on its digital Red Button service, website and radio.

Martin Brundle and Jonathan Legard remain as lead commentators for the television coverage, with the shows presented by Jake Humphrey alongside David Coulthard and Eddie Jordan, and Ted Kravitz and Lee Mackenze working as pit reporters.

Davidson stays with David Croft and pit reporter Holly Samos in the radio commentary line-up.

"We're delighted with the way 2009 went and we can't wait for the 2010 season to start," said the BBC's head of F1 Ben Gallop.

"The BBC Sport team will once again be bringing great coverage across all our platforms, meaning F1 fans can follow the action and interact wherever they are, whenever they want.

"We're proud to offer our audiences the opportunity to follow the great stories and share all the excitement of this fantastic sport."

Former Super Aguri driver Davidson had hoped to get back on the F1 grid for 2010, but was unable to find a drive. He has been linked to a racing return in the DTM - which does not have any clashes with grand prix dates - following a recent test with Audi
Was hoping they were ganna replace Legard

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhh NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO Leg-end remains, oh my giddy aunt. With the rest of them, must admit they are a good team.

Villeneuve joins BBC commentary team

By Hugh Podmore Wednesday, March 10th 2010, 17:57 GMT

Jacques Villeneuve is set to join the BBC's Radio 5 Live commentary team for the Bahrain Grand Prix.

The 1997 Formula 1 world champion, who has been disappointed in recent weeks after his plans to return to F1 this year with Stefan GP collapsed when the team was not granted a last-minute 2010 entry, will move into the commentary box for the first race of the season.

The incumbent Radio 5 Live team consists of David Croft and ex-Honda driver Anthony Davidson. Davidson is scheduled to race a Peugeot in the American Le Mans Series opener at Sebring the following weekend, and is expected to begin testing ahead of the event on Monday.

Thank god he is on the radio, I hope he doesnt do and commentary on the Practise sessions.
